Nancy Stracka, Principal Interior Designer, is a second generation Interior Designer following in the footsteps of her mother who ran a successful interior design business in the 1970’s and 1980’s. She was a Fine Art major at Indiana University and graduated from Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City with a degree fabric design.
In 2008, she was the winner of Boston magazine’s Best of Boston® Home Award for Best Interiors, North. Boston magazine cited her ability to “conjure up interiors that are consistently color-conscious, luxurious, and filled with rich textures”. She was also featured in 2006 and 2007 as one of the top interior designers in New England by Boston magazine’s Home and Garden edition. In November 2007, she was featured in Rhode Island Monthly magazine as a judge for their annual Design Awards. In 2006 she was selected to participate in the Designer-On-Call program at the Boston Design Center www.bostondesign.com. The Boston Design Center’s 78 showrooms, with more than 1200 premium product lines, represent the most extensive and innovative sources for custom interior, kitchen and bathroom furnishings in New England.
Nancy began her career as a fabric designer in New York and designed home and apparel fabrics for Mary McFadden, Halston, Schumacher and Jack Mulqueen. After working as a buyer for Bloomingdale’s in New York and Boston, she designed and manufactured her own home furnishings line that was distributed to high end home furnishings stores.
She founded Nancy Stracka Interiors in 1989 with her husband, Jeff Stracka, who spent his early career as a clothing designer and department store executive in New York City. She has designed interiors for 100’s of clients throughout New England. She is an Allied Member of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers), a member of IFDA (International Furnishings and Design Association) and a member of NKBA (National Kitchen & Bath Association).
She can work with both traditional and modern interiors and does not try to project a particular style; instead she works with her clients to help them find a style that is personal, comfortable and luxurious.
Her interior design firm has long standing relationships with architects, contractors, sub-contractors, cabinet makers and artisans to help complete any type of interior, kitchen or bathroom project and she has a workroom for window treatments. Home furnishings are sourced both locally and globally with a special emphasis on traditional and contemporary suppliers from California and Europe. Projects include both residential and commercial interiors.
The firm’s design team includes staff interior designers, kitchen designers and project managers who focus on technical design, product sourcing and installations. The design team has the ability to create highly technical design plans, elevations and photorealistic 3D renderings of client projects using the latest software such as Auto-CAD. This makes it easy for clients to visualize their interiors prior to execution and implementation.
